Verizon's FiOS TV offering aded 192,000 new subscribers durng the first quarter of 2011, bringing their total number of FiOS TV customers to 3.7 million people. This quarterly increase was larger than the 168,000 subscribers added during the previous quarter. According to Verizon's statement announcing first quarter earnings, total operating revenues were $27.0 billion in first-quarter 2011, which is an increase of 0.3 percent compared with the first quarter of 2010.

Verizon is competing with AT&T for video subscribers. By comparison, AT&T added 218,000 subscribers, which was slighly less than their previous quarter, with 236,000 new U-verse subsribers. AT&T's total video subscribers, which combines U-verse and bundled satellite TV customers, now total 5.1 million, which represents 20.6 percent of households served.
Verizon also added 207,000 new FiOS Internet customers in the first quarter; total FiOS Internet cusotmers now total 4.3 million subscribers.
